How do I know if I have fitted my device correctly? (click to see more)

Fitting the Device

Moulding the device

  • Boil water - must reach rolling boil!
  • Put Vaseline on fingertips and spoon while waiting
  • Pour bubbling water into bowl without delay
  • Immediately immerse device for 3.5 minutes
  • Remove device, shake off water, insert into mouth immediately to mould by biting hard enough to make good imprints of the bottom teeth. The bite marks should be deep enough to be almost touching the nylon blocks, but without perforating the thermoplastic material. Alternatively, you can always book an onboarding appointment to be guided through the procedure.
  • If after moulding the imprints of the lower teeth are not central, they're near the outer edge of the device, you can remould. When remoulding (see below), widen the device as soon as it's removed from the water by gently pulling it apart once or twice. This will help to ensure each side sits centrally on top of the lower teeth before biting down.

Remoulding the device

  • Usually necessary if imprints of teeth are very shallow
  • Same procedure but immerse device for 2 minutes
  • NB shorter time as material has changed after first moulding
  • If shallow or no imprints, you can heat for longer

Please ensure you

  • Fit both devices - even if you think they are not right.
  • Important....  devices are fitted in sequence to test the state of the muscles.
  • Don’t worry, they can usually be rescued! In rare cases when they can’t, we will send a replacement.

Moulded Device

  • The front rounded part can be behind the lower front teeth, on top of them, or even slightly in front of them
  • Ensure no sharp edges on blocks - use file provided in kit to smooth any sharp edges
  • Blocks face up towards top teeth
  • ideally, the ends should not be higher than the blocks. If they are higher, but you can wear without the ends interfering with the top teeth, then this is OK

Oralift is not like other dental appliances, it can feel loose to start with, but as the muscles relax the fit will feel better.

If you are concerned that your device has not been fitted correctly, you can email us pictures of your devices to contact@oralift.com

We need to see pictures of the sides of your device as well as pictures of the imprints (the bite marks of your lower teeth in the thermoplastic material).

Alternatively, you can always book an onboarding appointment to be guided through the procedure.

  • If you have bought the Oralift Basic package, all Zoom appointments are purchased in the Store.

  • If you have bought Oralift Original, Group Zoom Support can be booked after onboarding is fully completed using your coupon. All other appointments can be purchased from the Store.
