My Teeth never touch - will I benefit from Oralift (click to see more)
Teeth should never touch.
- When we are at rest, the lips are usually together and teeth slightly apart.
- When we swallow, if you do a relaxed swallow teeth do not touch. The tip of the tongue is usually behind the two front teeth, lips together and then when we swallow, teeth do not touch. If your teeth do touch, you can practice how to do a relaxed swallow and your teeth will not touch when you swallow.
- When we eat, we chew our food with our teeth but before tooth contact occurs there is a mechanism that comes into play which separates the jaws. So teeth never come into contact.
So if you are in a group of people whose teeth never touch, will you benefit from Oralift?
The answer is yes. The normal freeway space, the distance between our top teeth and lower teeth at rest with lips together is usually between 1 -3 mm. The height of the blocks is 3mm and 5mm. So when the Oralift is worn the jaw has to rest in a new position and the process of adaptation kicks in.
