What to do if the ends of my device are higher than the blocks?
This is not a problem if you can still wear the device without your top teeth touching the thermoplastic material behind the blocks. If you can see teeth marks in the thermoplastic material behind the blocks, then these can be lowered as follows:
- Place a knife (or similar) across the top of a heatproof bowl and hang the device over it.
- Fill the bowl with "just boiled" water up to the bottom of the blocks so that only the thermoplastic material on the ends (behind the blocks) is immersed in the water.
- After 2 minutes remove and put the device in the mouth and use forefingers to gently push down the thermoplastic material at the back behind the blocks to lower it. Push down on both sides at the same time - this will ensure you don't tilt the device.
You can also cut the ends off before remoulding (as shown above) to smooth off any sharp edges.
When cutting please ensure you don't cut off the little round lugs at the end of the blocks.
