The presence of any appliance in the mouth can stimulate the salivary glands. This is a normal reflex response, as the body initially interprets the device as food or something unfamiliar.

In most people, saliva production reduces as the mouth adapts and becomes accustomed to the device.

Increased saliva does not indicate a problem and is not a sign of overuse. If it feels excessive, simply swallow normally and continue with short, measured wear times as advised.

As with all aspects of the programme, if anything feels uncomfortable or unusual, reduce wear time and reintroduce gradually.
